ClosureFast
What Is ClosureFast and How Effective Is It?
ClosureFast™ is a minimally invasive procedure that utilizes radiofrequency (RF) energy to provide effective relief to patients with varicose veins or chronic venous insufficiency (CVI). It’s often performed in an outpatient setting, typically using local or regional anesthesia.
The valves in the legs cannot be repaired. Consequently, the only solution is to re-route the blood flow from the diseased veins to the healthy veins. We use ClosureFast™ to achieve this. A catheter is inserted into the diseased vein through a tiny incision below the knee. Guided by ultrasound imaging, the vein is treated in 7 cm segments for 20 seconds each. The catheter delivers constant uniform heat to contract the collagen in the vein walls, causing them to collapse and close. By sealing the vein shut, blood is then redirected to healthy veins. The treated vein then becomes fibrous tissue and will gradually be absorbed into the surrounding muscle.
